Today, we’re announcing the open beta for Monda Data Sharing, built to enable data providers to deliver data to customer cross-cloud easily.
It’s the new reality: Customers want to receive the data they purchased directly within the cloud platforms they use, like Snowflake, Databricks, Google Cloud, Azure, AWS and many more. In recent years, most data lakes and data warehouses have introduced native data sharing capabilities, which makes it very easy for platform users to consume data from other companies.
In the past, the standard way for most data providers was to deliver data through S3 buckets or SFTP (some even just used email attachments), and it seems to still be quite common today. But those data delivery methods put the burden of data integration on the customer: they have to take care of onboarding the shared data into their data lake or data warehouse. It’s much easier if they receive the data directly in their desired cloud platform.
But integrating and servicing all kinds of different cloud data warehouses and cloud storage solutions requires a lot of time, cost, and effort from DataOps and data engineering teams. On average, these teams spend 70% of their time preparing data so it can be received by the end-user, and only 30% actually developing data products.
Additionally, data customers are often willing to pay a convenience fee to have the data delivered to their preferred destination. Data providers miss out on this upsell opportunity of they don’t support the customer’s cloud platform.
The dilemma many data providers face: ‘How can we support all these cloud destinations without needing a large team of engineers to integrate and maintain them?’
We’re happy to announce that we’ve launched the beta of Monda Data Sharing that enables data providers to easily deliver data across clouds with an easy-to-use UI.
Its cloud-agnostic infrastructure means you can deliver to your customers’ preferred warehouse or file storage in minutes. The beta is only the beginning. We’re going to add many more sources and destinations to Data Sharing by the time it’s in general availability. For that, we need your feedback.
